What is community you may well ask?The word community is derived from old french communite`which is derived from latin communitas [cum”with/together”and munus”gift”].Traditionally a community has been defined as a group of interacting people living in a common location. The word is often used to refer to a group that is organised around common values and is attributed with social cohesion with a shared geographical location, generally in social units larger than a household.

I was brought up in a small farming community in rural New Zealand.I remember as a child many interactions within that community. As I got older and pursued my career I joined a community of health professionals, this community did not share the intimacy of my childhood community but it served another purpose, that of professional support and mentorship.

Then many years later after my years of exploring the globe  I was ready to settle somewhere and build a home and family.I found a small town in a beautiful part of the world, bought a block of land and started attracting a community of likeminded people with similar interests to live close to me.

More recently I have become involved with a totally different community, that of a global nature.I am a part of a global community of Network marketers. The amazing thing with this community is that although they are far spread there is an element of intimacy as the community makes a huge effort to be consciously  be involved.

The benefits of community are many,some that come to mind are;

>Events are held to bring community together, celebrating the community.

>We do not have to reinvent the wheel-shared resources and knowledge.

>The community is there for support in the highs and the lows.

>Share expertise.

>Fostering new friendships.

>Problem solving.

>Greater potential with a team than an individual.

So I feel that being part of a  community can only be beneficialAlso one always has an affinity with past communities and this just adds to the global networking that I am now enjoying so much.

Just finished watching this TED talk – a goldmine of fresh innovative ideas. This one is no exception:

Discovering Your Passion!

As we grow up and move forward with our lives we start looking for direction, pondering on what career we could or should pursue.Ideas are fed to us from family, friends and from our school career counsellors. Sometimes this is so daunting we don’t listen to our own intuition.I recall when nearing the end of my schooling all sorts of ideas were forwarded to me fom well meaning people. There was one idea that never became apparent then-the idea of following my passion. What is a passion you might well ask?I feel for me it is something that gives me the deepest and most heartfelt satisfaction.Did I have a passion that early on-I don’t know but I feel  even if  I was not aware of it there would have been seedlings there  ready to be nurtured.

I discovered my passion once I’d embarked on my career-that of a Registered Nurse.I wonder now if I chose that vocation because of my passion.I am passionate about helping people for all sorts of reasons and in all aspects of life..It gives me a great thrill and feeling of satisfaction to be of assistance to others.Hence becoming a Nurse was a perfect place for me to be.Once a passion is born it seems to stay with us,it is something heartfelt, easy, satisfying, something we love to share with others.

My ability to give because of my passion has been deeply satisfying throughout my life.As my career changed from a Hospital based RN to mother I held my passion and took it into other aspects of my life.I discovered the value of eating a healthy wholefood diet and since food and nutrition are two of my interests I coupled them with teaching others the benefits of consuming healthy food.

It was about this time I discovered my passion for helping people and caring married very well with another passion-that is Health.By health I don’t mean the generic health.I mean a wholistic approach to health and wellbeing-mind body and soul.So my passion and I now help ensure that people have healthy choices in their lives, making them aware of what the choices are.Eat healthy, live healthy and get back to choices that are closer to nature.A simple fruitful healthy life filled with passion.Passionate satisfaction leads to optimum health and wellbeing.

To be the very best of yourself -follow your passions,be truthful to yourself, abandon self doubt, and let your passions fly free.
